I grew up in Flintshire, North Wales. After attending Hawarden High School, I graduated with a specialist degree in English Literature with Creative Writing from York St John University, having been mentored by JT Welsch.
My dissertation explored the major poets of the 1950s and 1960s dubbed ‘confessional poets’, arguing for and against the terms ‘confessional’ and ‘confessionalism’ in relation to poetic style and content.
My writing influences include poets such as Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Lowell, and John Berryman, as well as novelist and short story writer, Angela Carter.
After university, I went on to carry out work placements at DK Publishing within the Random House Penguin Group in London, Gladstone’s Library, and independent publishing house, Comma Press. For two years, I was working and writing in Manchester City Centre for the award-winning digital agency, ActiveWin.
For the last three years, I have undertaken marketing roles across Flintshire and Cheshire, working across multiple channels, specialising in digital marketing and campaign creation.
