My Background

I grew up in Flintshire, North Wales. After attending Hawarden High School, I graduated with a specialist degree in English Literature with Creative Writing from York St John University, as a result, I was mentored by JT Welsch. The university course I completed included modules ‘Writing for Demand’ and ‘Writing for Business.’ This allowed me to hone my copywriting, PR and digital marketing skills.

My dissertation explored the major poets of the 1950s and 1960s dubbed ‘confessional poets.’ Here, I argued for and against the terms ‘confessional’ and ‘confessionalism’ in relation to poetic style and content. My writing influences include poets Elizabeth Bishop, Robert Lowell, and John Berryman, as well as novelist and short story writer, Angela Carter.

Digital Marketing

After university, I went on to carry out digital marketing work placements. My placements were at DK Publishing within the Random House Penguin Group in London, Gladstone’s Library, and independent publishing house, Comma Press.

I was working and writing in Manchester City Centre for the award-winning digital agency, ActiveWin, for two years. For the last three years, I have undertaken marketing roles across Flintshire and Cheshire, working across full-service 360 dm, specialising in digital content and campaign creation.
